Toy Watts is the daughter of Russell Fairconnetue and Kim Coles. Reared by her grandparents, Thomas and Josie Coles, Toy spent her formative years in the community of Bay St. Louis.
She began her education right across the street at head start followed by two years at St. Rose Elementary school. In 1992, she graduated 9th in her class at Bay High School. She attended Dillard University in New Orleans, Louisiana on a full academic scholarship. In 1996, she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education. In 2001, she received her Master of Education from the University of Southern Mississippi in School Counseling. In the spring of 2008, she graduated again from USM with a Specialist in Educational Administration and she completed a PhD in Educational Administration with a minor in Statistics from the University of Southern Mississippi in May of 2012.
Toy has over 17years of experience in education. Her experience spans across various school types—urban, suburban, elementary, middle, high and alternative schools. She has two years of experience in guidance counseling. She has worked in several districts which include: Bay St. Louis, MS; Pass Christian, MS; Vicksburg, MS and Atlanta, GA.
Toy has held various leadership positions which include coaching, instructional leadership and team chairperson. Currently, Toy is serving her 5th year as a principal in the Bay St. Louis-Waveland School District.
Toy is a proud member of St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church in Gulfport, Mississippi. She is married to the wonderful pastor of St. Paul, Rev. Cory M. Watts. They married in July 1999 at First Missionary Baptist Church in Bay St. Louis. They are the proud parents of Josie Watts and are currently awaiting the arrival of their son, Tory Watts.
